Verses 30 to 35 of Surah Al-Baqarah present a significant part of the story of Adam's creation and the settlement of him and his spouse in Paradise. According to some Quranic exegetes, this Quranic narrative is an allegorical yet real depiction of human life on Earth. Studying the verses of creation from this perspective can yield lessons for the better living of Adam's descendants on Earth, revealing the essential necessities and warnings that humans face in their material and spiritual existence. The findings of this research indicate that, based on these verses, following the principle of human creation and his inherent potentials by God, and considering the philosophy of human creation (growth and trial), the most crucial necessities of his life are: forming a family and participating in community and society, followed by the issue of housing, then sustenance provision, and finally, individual and social responsibility. In this study, Adam's Paradise is referred to as the first human dwelling on Earth, termed the "City of God." The authors have endeavored to demonstrate the position and role of the family and the spousal system within the structure of the Divine City—what it was and what it should be. A city that, if properly established, can shape a comprehensive Islamic civilization on Earth.
