Various and sometimes contradictory definitions have been proposed for the concept of the "Islamic city." Since a rational definition can serve as a foundation for many subsequent motivations and actions, as well as shape specific areas of study, the desire for a precise and comprehensive definition is of great importance. The term "Islamic city" does not simply mean "the city of Islam" but rather a city founded upon and associated with Islamic culture. An Islamic city is not necessarily one inhabited exclusively by Muslims, nor is it solely a city built by Muslims. It is not limited to physical structures or mere formal characteristics but is a civic environment that nurtures and realizes the human ideals expressed in prophetic teachings. Thus, in the growth of Islamic civilization, urban planning has held a more significant position than architecture itself. This study explores the dimensions and fundamental elements of the Islamic city with a particular focus on its visual aspects. Since human vision plays a primary role in perception and influence, this research aims to establish the legitimacy of the visual identity of the Islamic city, which is largely dependent on its visual authenticity. The research methodology is descriptive-explanatory, emphasizing the anthropological concerns of the visual system of the Islamic city from an intra-religious perspective. The findings indicate that the visual appearance of the Islamic city can serve as an indicator of behavioral norms, reflect religious value foundations, and promote the Islamic cultural perspective on humanity.
